Primary Responsibilities

TYME is seeking full-time Entry Level Construction Technicians to add to our amazing team. Your primary duties will focus on field observation, assist with construction activities documentation in conformance with contract requirements, participate in density testing, aggregate gradation testing, and materials confirmation testing of HMA or concrete. The right candidate(s) must be able to work well independently and also in a team setting, be a strong communicator, have a flexible schedule and be able to work in an outdoor environment.

How you will contribute to the TYME team:

• Prepare daily reports detailing the status of the work, including verification of work completed, item postings and materials associations, and jobsite conditions.

• Complete and submit basic calculations, sketches, and item specific forms.

• Verify and document that construction adheres to contract requirements.

• Communicate with appropriate senior staff on issues of non-compliance.

• Communicate, as needed and appropriate, with project team and stakeholders including project engineer, other technicians, survey staff, contractors.

• Perform a wide variety of materials testing, including concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and soils both in the field and lab settings.

• Demonstrate your strong organization skills.

• Perform other duties as required.

Your primary duties will focus on providing construction inspection, contractor oversight, troubleshooting issues in the field, mentoring entry level technicians, assisting with coordination and scheduling of inspection staff, and construction activities documentation in conformance with contract requirements. • Serve as a field representative when interacting with clients, contractors, and public.

• Complete and submit required calculations, sketches, maintenance of traffic reviews, mobility reporting, and item specific forms.

• Read and interpret contract requirements and plans.

• Track and record as-built information for incorporation into project record drawings.

• Serve as liaison between the contractor and supervising engineers to resolve constructability issues or questions.

• Communicate with project team and stakeholders including project engineer, other technicians, testing technicians, survey staff, contractors

Overview: 

Our civil engineering company is seeking a skilled and experienced Staff Engineer to join our team. The Staff Engineer will work on a variety of civil engineering projects, providing technical expertise and leadership to ensure successful project completion.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop plans for civil engineering projects, including site plans, grading and drainage plans, and roadway plans.

• Conduct site investigations, collect data, and prepare reports and analysis on soil composition, environmental impact, and other factors that may impact the project.

• Collaborate with other team members, including project managers, architects, and contractors, to ensure successful project completion.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

• Monitor project progress, identify and address issues and risks, and ensure that all work is completed on time and within budget.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

• Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on site design, roadway design and project management skills.

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation and other engineering software programs.

• For ITS
– Doing site assessment to investigate devices to know their condition. This involves taking picture of sites and drawing diagram of the site.
– Responsible for assisting ITS design which includes data collecting, providing CAD drawing, engineering layout of ITS infrastructure.

• For Roads.
– Responsible for performing Inspection duties, marking up removal of pavements and sidewalks, calculating amount of concrete wastage, and calculation of stations.
– Responsible for performing QA backchecks on plan sheets, quantities, and specifications for permanent signing and pavement markings.
– Responsible for inspecting concrete patching set up, concrete placement, paver placed surface seal, verifying street temperatures, and final pavement placement.
– Responsible for inspection of CTPB (Concrete Treated Permeable Base), Concrete placement, Joint sealing, HMA, Concrete patching, Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC), and trimming.
– Responsible for project inspection including observing concrete patching operations including saw cutting, removals, prep-work, and concrete placement, finishing and curing
– Executing daily inspection, IDRs, and submitting of documentation.

• For Bridges
– Responsible for assisting the field inspection team with sounding of the abutments, piers, and deck surface.
– Assisting with field documentation and marking up the surfaces for the engineering team.
– Responsible for performing in-depth safety inspection and routine bridge safety inspections for various bridges located throughout the Metro Region.
Required Qualifications
Education Background: Bachelors in civil Engineering

Relevant experience:
Knowledge of civil engineering principles
Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation and other engineering software programs
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate effectively with other team members and clients.

General Purpose of Position

The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineer / Manager works on, or assists with, a wide variety of ITS-related projects, including ITS planning and design, traffic engineering analysis and design, and preparation of spreadsheets, graphics, and report preparation for various engineering projects.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• May be responsible for assisting with Information Technology (IT) duties, as necessary.
• Develops concepts for proposed ITS improvements on a project corridor.
• Develops ITS plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Oversees field inspection of ITS installation.
• Develops and reviews Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) ITS Asset Databases.
• Prepares project plans associated with ITS Design of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), Vehicle Detection Systems, and Dynamic Message Signs (DMS).
• Develops traffic impact studies based upon state or local agency standards.
• Performs traffic operations studies, safety studies, corridor traffic studies, and interchange studies using MDOT and other applicable standards and guidelines.
• Develops signal timing and phasing plans, conduct signal warrant, spot speed, left-turn phase warrant and other traffic engineering studies.
• Conducts crash site analyses.
• Performs troubleshooting and repair of traffic signal and communications equipment and prepares reports.
• Assists with proposal development opportunities, including go/no-go decisions, determining teaming partners, scoping tasks, preparing estimates, and managing proposal development teams.
• Leads project meetings and makes presentations.
• Provides technical assistance to staff.
• Assists with other technical duties, as necessary.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information/Communications Technology, or similar field required.
• Minimum of three (3) years in ITS related design experience required.
• Project Management experience highly preferred.
• Local Agency Program, MDOT, or other State DOT experience preferred.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Currently Holds or able to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan preferred.
• Membership in a professional organization such as ASCE preferred.
• Advanced credentials or specialty certifications such as, SECB, LEED, MgtEng, etc. preferred.
• Project management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.


Skills / Abilities

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, free of accidents and violations.
• Experience with Project Management tools and techniques including scheduling, conflict scoping, risk management, staff resource management, and quality management.
• Experience with engineering software, including AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Proficient use of MS Office and ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly.
